Campeonato Brasileiro Série A

Football in Brazil has a long-established presence, with Campeonato Brasileiro Série A standing at the top of the domestic game. It has operated in its current form since 1971, following decades of regional competitions and various attempts to build a national structure. Today, it brings together twenty clubs from across the country in a season run on a clear and consistent schedule.
In the early 20th century, the game developed mainly at state level, with local championships shaping the competitive scene. National tournaments such as Taça Brasil and Torneio Roberto Gomes Pedrosa marked the first steps towards a unified structure. Over time, these formats led to the creation of the modern top division, now organised by the Brazilian Football Confederation and used as the main benchmark for leading clubs in Brazil.
The current setup, with 20 teams playing each other home and away, provides a level playing field across the season. By the end of the campaign, the top sides move into international competitions, while the bottom four are relegated to the second tier, ensuring regular turnover between divisions.

Cruzeiro Esporte Clube

Cruzeiro Esporte Clube is based in Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais in south-eastern Brazil. The club operates in professional football and is also active in other sports, including volleyball and athletics.
It was founded as Società Sportiva Palestra Italia by the city’s Italian immigrant community and in its early years had links to working-class groups. The name later changed through Palestra Mineiro before settling on Cruzeiro Esporte Clube.
Blue became the main colour after 1942, replacing earlier combinations. The crest features the Southern Cross. The club runs training facilities at Toca da Raposa I and II and fields both men’s and women’s football teams.
Associação Chapecoense de Futebol

Associação Chapecoense de Futebol was formed in Chapecó at a time when professional football in the area was limited. This created the conditions for a more organised structure aimed at stabilising the game in the city. Located in western Santa Catarina, the club developed in a setting different from Brazil’s traditional football centres.
Founded in 1973 through the merger of Atlético Chapecoense and Independente, it established a single organisation responsible for running the professional team. Chapecoense operates as a member-based association with internal management and has gone through legal and financial adjustments over time, including the use of Associação Chapecoense Kindermann/Mastervet as a temporary structure.
Alongside competition, the club has developed its infrastructure, including the CT da Água Amarela training base. It also runs social and commemorative initiatives. Within Santa Catarina, Chapecoense competes regularly at state level and is involved in regional rivalries.
