Campeonato Brasileiro Série A

Football in Brazil is closely tied to everyday life, and Campeonato Brasileiro Série A represents the highest level of the domestic game. It is where the sport’s history meets a modern professional setup, bringing together clubs from across the country in a single national competition.
The origins of the modern structure date back to 1971, when a national championship was introduced to unite teams from different regions. Before that, the game was shaped largely by state competitions, which built local rivalries but did not provide a nationwide platform. The new format marked the start of a more unified system.
Over time, the league moved through several organisational models before settling into the current structure with 20 teams. A round-robin format creates equal conditions and keeps the season competitive throughout. This balance between organisation and on-pitch competition has helped establish Série A as a leading league in South America.
Coritiba Foot Ball Club

The early development of football in the state of Paraná took shape in the early 20th century with the founding of Coritiba Foot Ball Club in Curitiba. Established on 12 October 1909, the club emerged in a setting influenced by European immigration, with a particularly active German community. Its first steps were linked to Clube Ginástico Teuto-Brasileiro Turnverein, where football began as part of a broader activity before becoming independent.
Coritiba became involved in the formation of the regional football structure and developed into one of the early organisations in Paraná. Its presence in Curitiba has remained constant, with the club forming part of the city’s sporting life from the outset. This context places it among the older clubs in southern Brazil.
Alongside its role in the football structure, the club has also focused on youth development and has engaged in international partnerships. These involve clubs from countries such as Portugal, Mexico, South Korea and the Netherlands, and include the exchange of players.
Esporte Clube Bahia

Among football clubs in northeastern Brazil, Esporte Clube Bahia stands out for its origins in the local sporting scene in Salvador. In 1931, players from Associação Atlética da Bahia and Clube Bahiano de Tênis came together after both clubs withdrew from football, forming a new team that continued the city’s presence in organised competition.
The club operates in the capital of Bahia state, one of the main urban centres in the northeast. The region is known for its cultural and historical background, which shapes the setting in which football develops. Bahia competes in both the national league system and the state championship.
Its crest draws inspiration from that of Sport Club Corinthians Paulista and includes elements of the Bahia state flag. Blue, red and white define the kit—typically a white shirt, blue shorts and red socks—and remain consistent features of the club’s visual identity.
