Campeonato Brasileiro Série A

Modern Brazilian football is difficult to discuss without Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, the competition that largely sets the pace in the country. Known as the Brasileirão, it has existed in its current form since 1971, though its roots go back to interstate tournaments and earlier competitions from the first half of the 20th century. It reflects how the game has developed in a country where football draws consistent, widespread interest.
For many years, the sport in Brazil was shaped by state-level championships, with clubs competing within their own regions. Over time, the need for a national structure became clear. That shift led from early formats such as Taça Brasil and Torneio Roberto Gomes Pedrosa to the modern league. Since 2003, it has followed a stable format with twenty teams playing each other home and away across the season.
The league is known for its pace and a relatively even spread of competition. New challengers regularly emerge, and the race for places in continental tournaments keeps the table tight deep into the campaign. Promotion and relegation between Série A and Série B ensures a steady turnover of clubs.
CR Flamengo

Clube de Regatas do Flamengo is a multi-sport club based in Rio de Janeiro, best known for its professional football team. Its origins lie in a local rowing community, with links to the Flamengo and Gávea districts. Over time, additional sports were introduced, broadening the scope of its activities.
The club was founded on 17 November 1895 as Grupo de Regatas do Flamengo before adopting its current name. The football section was established on 24 December 1911, when a group of players left Fluminense Football Club and joined Flamengo, bringing organised football into the existing structure.
Its visual identity is built around red and black, replacing earlier blue and gold colours. The standard football kit features red-and-black stripes with white shorts and matching socks, while a white change kit is used when required. Different versions of the club crest are used in practice, including the CRF monogram, and the vulture (urubu) has become an established symbol and mascot.
Coritiba Foot Ball Club

On 12 October 1909, Coritiba Foot Ball Club was founded in Curitiba, becoming part of the early development of football in the state of Paraná. Its origins are linked to the German immigrant community in the city and to Clube Ginástico Teuto-Brasileiro Turnverein, where a football section first took shape before becoming an independent club.
In its early years, Coritiba was involved in the formation of the local football scene, which was still taking shape at the time. It established itself as one of the more stable early organisations in the region and remains among the oldest clubs in the state. Its development has been closely tied to Curitiba, the state capital and a centre of regional sport.
Over time, the club has extended its activity beyond participation in the state football structure, including work in youth development. It also supports other sporting activities, such as an American football team, broadening its scope beyond the core game.
