Campeonato Brasileiro Série A

Football is an integral part of public life in Brazil, and Campeonato Brasileiro Série A sits at the top of the domestic game. It brings together twenty leading clubs in a season that runs across much of the year, following a clear home-and-away format. This structure keeps competition tight and gives weight to every point.
The modern shape of the league dates back to 1971, when the Brazilian Football Confederation established a national championship to unite clubs from different regions. Before that, the game was dominated by regional competitions, including those in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, where many rivalries first developed. Over time, these formats gave way to a more centralised structure.
During its early decades, the competition moved through a range of formats, from knockout systems to group stages. In the early 2000s, it settled into the current double round-robin model, bringing greater clarity and consistency to the way the season is run.
Santos FC

Santos Futebol Clube was founded in 1912 in the city of Santos, in São Paulo state, and developed in a setting closely linked to the port and the sea. From the early years, it built a strong connection with the local community, which remains a recognisable part of the club. That influence can be seen in its symbols, colours and nicknames.
The team initially used white, blue and gold, but switched to a black-and-white look as early as 1913. That combination became the standard, appearing both in the traditional all-white kit and in a black-and-white alternative. Blue details appear from time to time, echoing the early years and the city’s maritime setting.
Matches are played at Vila Belmiro, the club’s home since 1916, located in the district of the same name. Alongside the men’s team, the club also runs youth levels, women’s football and futsal, reflecting its activity across different levels of the game.
Esporte Clube Vitória

As one of the older clubs in Brazil, Esporte Clube Vitória traces its origins to 13 May 1899 in Salvador. It was initially founded as Club de Cricket Victoria by young people from Bahia who had been introduced to sport during their studies in the United Kingdom. In its early years, cricket was the main activity before the club turned to football and adopted the name Esporte Clube Vitória.
Salvador, located on the Atlantic coast, provides the geographical setting for the club’s development. The name Vitória comes from the district associated with its origins, preserving a connection to its place of foundation. Organisationally, the club operates as an association and independently manages its professional football team, which competes in national and state competitions.
Vitória’s identity is associated with its red-and-black colour scheme, which replaced an earlier black-and-white combination. The nickname “Rubro-negro” reflects this visual identity, while the lion remains a recurring symbol. The team’s shirts traditionally feature striped designs, which have varied in style over time without altering the core colours.
