Série A (Brasil)

Brazilian football is known around the world for its passion, technique and close connection with the public, and Campeonato Brasileiro Série A stands as its highest domestic level. It is the championship that brings together the country’s leading clubs in a balanced competition built on clear rules and modern organisation.
Officially established in 1971, the league became a central part of the football system in Brazil. Before that, regional competitions played the main role. But as interest in national tournaments grew and infrastructure improved, the conditions were created for a professional nationwide league.
Over the years, the competition passed through several stages of development — from experimental knockout and group-based systems to the modern 20-team model that became firmly established in the mid-2000s. Each club now plays 38 matches per season, creating consistency and a high level of competition. For football fans in India, it is a league admired for skill, depth and the regular emergence of new contenders.
Santos

The name Santos first appeared in Brazilian football in 1912, when a new club was founded in the city of Santos, São Paulo state. From the beginning, the team built a close connection with the local environment, and that relationship has remained an important part of the club’s development over the years.
During the early period, several versions of the name were used, including the original Santos Foot-Ball Club, from which abbreviations such as SFC and SFBC were derived. These forms existed side by side and reflected the continuity between different stages of the club’s history.
Changes to the club’s visual identity came early. After a short period with different colours, a new combination was introduced in 1913 and has remained central to the club’s image ever since. It shaped both the main kit and alternative versions, while some designs occasionally referenced the club’s earlier colours. The badge, developed during the 1920s, introduced several distinctive elements that continued to appear in later versions of the crest.
Esporte Clube Vitória

As one of the older football clubs in Brazil, Vitória traces its origins back to 13 May 1899 in Salvador. Originally founded as Club de Cricket Victoria, the organisation was created by young people from Bahia who became familiar with the sport while studying in the United Kingdom. During its early years, cricket was the club’s main activity before football gradually became its primary focus and the organisation adopted the name Esporte Clube Vitória.
Salvador, located on the Atlantic coast, shapes the geographical setting of the club. The name Vitória comes from the neighbourhood connected to its origins, preserving the link with the place where the organisation was founded. Structurally, the club operates as an association that independently manages its professional football team, which competes in national and state championships.
Vitória’s visual identity is associated with the red-and-black colour combination that replaced the earlier black-and-white colours. The nickname “Rubro-negro” reflects this characteristic, while the lion symbol remains part of the club’s image. The jerseys traditionally feature striped patterns that have changed in design over different periods without altering the main colour scheme.
