Série A (Brasil)

Football in Brazil has always been more than a sport — it is part of everyday public life, and Campeonato Brasileiro Série A stands at the top of that culture. It is where history meets modern professionalism, with clubs from across the country competing in one unified and well-structured championship.
The beginning of organised national football in Brazil is linked to 1971, when a league was created to bring together different regions. Before that, the country relied mainly on state competitions, which built strong local rivalries but did not offer a full national stage. The new format helped lay the foundations of modern Brazilian club football.
Over time, the league passed through different organisational models before settling into the stable 20-team system that remains in place today. The round-robin format creates equal competitive conditions and keeps the season alive from start to finish. The blend of sporting intensity and clear organisation has made Série A an established force in South American football.
One of the league’s defining features is the passion of its supporters. Stadium atmospheres are energetic and colourful, and many matches feel like football festivals. From São Paulo to Rio de Janeiro, and from Porto Alegre to Recife, each fixture carries its own identity and local flavour. For football audiences in India, it is a league where emotion and quality often go hand in hand.
SE Palmeiras

The roots of Palmeiras go back to the early 20th century, when Palestra Itália was founded in São Paulo in 1914 by Italian immigrants. In its early years, the club was closely linked to the local community, but it gradually expanded its activities and presence within Brazilian sport. In 1942, the organisation adopted the name Palmeiras, marking a new stage in its development.
Over time, Palmeiras built the structure of a multi-sport club, with football remaining at the centre of its activities. Alongside the senior men’s team, the club also developed women’s and youth squads, as well as sections in basketball, judo, boxing and gymnastics. This broader setup reflects the wide range of sports connected to the organisation.
Green and white remain key elements of the club’s identity, while nicknames such as Alviverde, Periquito and Porco continue to be strongly associated with its supporters. Palmeiras currently plays its home matches at Allianz Parque, opened in 2014. Before that, the club spent many years at Estádio Palestra Itália.
Chapecoense

Associação Chapecoense de Futebol holds an important place in the football culture of Chapecó in Santa Catarina state. In a region where professional football traditionally had a smaller presence, the club gradually established itself as a major force in developing the game at local level.
Founded in 1973 through the merger of Atlético Chapecoense and Independente, the club created a more unified and organised football structure in the city. Chapecoense operates as a member-based sports association, with management remaining internal. Over the years, the organisation also went through different administrative and financial changes, including temporary structures such as Associação Chapecoense Kindermann/Mastervet.
The club’s identity is closely linked to its green-and-white colours, while the badge featuring the initials ACF and symbolic stars adds to its recognisable image.
